Global fashion doyenne Victoria Beckham’s latest style makeover took place inside the children’s ward of a cash-strapped hospital in Cape Town.

During a visit to Tygerberg Hospital on Monday, chronically ill four-year-old Esmonic Marima caught the 39-year-old star’s eye.

The former British singer known as Posh Spice leaned her slender elbows on the little girl’s bed during an intimate chat that involved the exchange of stickers.

Beckham also adjusted Esmonic’s hair clips and pink polka-dot hair ribbons.

The little girl from the Boland town of Wellington is seriously ill with biliary atresia and chronic liver disease, and was admitted to the hospital on January 30.

A spokesperson for the hospital, Laticia Pienaar, said Beckham’s visit saw Esmonic get very excited, even though she did not know who her famous visitor was.

“Victoria was on a tour of the children’s ward when she stopped to play with Esmonic and to even adjust her hair clips. It was a lovely visit,” said Pienaar.

Dr Lisa Frigati was thrilled about Beckham’s tour of the 300-bed ward.

“Victoria was wonderful with the children and we hope she will continue to support this cause,” she said.

Beckham, the wife of soccer star David Beckham, and mother to Brooklyn (14), Romeo (11), Cruz (8) and Harper Seven (2), jetted to South Africa for a whirlwind two-day charity visit.

On Monday, she took to Twitter to thank the “inspiring” people she met in Cape Town.

“Thank you @bornfreeafrica and the inspiring doctors, mothers and children that I met today. #JoinBornFree x vb.”

In an interview with Elle magazine this month, she insisted that she wasn’t a diva.

“Everybody thinks I’m going to be a prima donna, so when I’m not, it’s a pleasant surprise,” she said.

“I don’t think there’s any room for that, to be honest. I really don’t. It’s about being focused and working hard.”

She was spotted at Cape Town’s five-star Mount Nelson Hotel last Sunday.
