Pressure ‘part of the territory’ for coach Deans

2012-09-21 11:19

Australia coach Robbie Deans has called the pressure on him “part of the territory” ahead of tough away assignments in South Africa and Argentina to end the Wallabies’ Rugby Championship campaign.

The New Zealander also says criticism of the Springboks’ game plan as predictable and conservative is “wide of the mark.” The team meet at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria next Saturday.

Deans says the Boks have been “innovative” under new coach Heyneke Meyer and will combine that with typical forward aggression at the high-altitude venue.

Australia has won just once in nearly 50 years on the South African highveld, when fullback Kurtley Beale provided a match-winning performance in Bloemfontein two years ago.

Beale is tipped to start in the No 10 jersey at Loftus this time.
