Prophet arrested for rape at church headquarters

2013-03-05 11:31

A Zion Christian Church (ZCC) prophet has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman at the church’s headquarters in Moria, near Polokwane.

The woman (27) alleged that the prophet (35) put a knife to her throat while raping her on Saturday morning during an all-night prayer session on church premises, The Star reported today.

The ZCC distanced itself from the incident.

ZCC official Ronnie Malahlela told the newspaper that the church was not aware of the alleged rape.

“We don’t know anything about it. Ask the police. That’s all I can say to you,” he told the newspaper.

According to The Star, Constable Moses Molepo said a man was arrested on Sunday and was expected to appear in the Mankweng Magistrates’ Court later on Tuesday.

The woman had been taken to hospital, where the rape was confirmed.
