R1.5m cocaine found in home

2011-05-20 07:22

Three men were arrested in Douglasdale, Johannesburg, when they were found in possession of cocaine worth about R1.5 million, Gauteng police said today.

The three, two Brazilians and one Angolan, were believed to have been manufacturing the drug at a house in the suburb, spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said.

“We found utensils and substances like bicarbonate of soda which are commonly used to ‘cut’ the drug. So far 2.5kg of cocaine, which amounts to a value of about R1.5 million, has been found, but the police are still searching the premises.”

The trio was expected to appear before the Randburg Magistrates Court soon on charges of manufacturing and possession of drugs.
