2011-02-03 08:39

A ballot paper for SA’s first democratic election has been auctioned for R80 000 by the FW De Klerk foundation in Cape Town.

The ballot paper, from the 1994 elections, was signed by former presidents FW de Klerk, Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki, foundation spokesperson Dave Steward said today.

It went on auction at the foundation’s annual gala dinner in Cape Town last night. Bidding began at R5 000.

The foundation would use the money to promote the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
