RDP delivery truck set alight

2011-04-29 08:56

A truck delivering bricks to build RDP houses in Botshabelo was set

alight by the local community, Free State police said today.

A group of about 40 people armed with weapons accosted the driver

of the truck and asked him to get out of the vehicle before they assaulted him

yesterday, Constable Consolation Mokoale said.

The group off-loaded some of the bricks from the truck and used

them to barricade the road before they set the vehicle alight.

The truck and some burnt bricks were found at the scene.

Mokoale said police did not know the motive for the crime.

A case of malicious damage to property had been opened, but no

arrests had been made.
