Rebels expect control of Tripoli in ‘15 hours’

2011-08-22 13:03

Libyan rebels expect to take complete control over the capital Tripoli within 15 hours, one of the opposition fighters told the German Press Agency, dpa.

He said telephonically that he was stationed only 500m away from leader Muammar Gaddafi’s Bab al-Aziziya compound, where the rebels have been fighting government troops for hours.

Hundreds of rebels have been joining the fighters in Tripoli from the Western Mountains area with supplies, he told dpa.

“I came from Yefren city last night, and just now, over 300 joined us,” he said.

Yesterday, hundreds of rebels arrived in Tripoli from the coastal city of Misurata by sea.
