Reeva condemned violence against women

2013-02-14 12:29

The last image Reeva Steenkamp shared on Instagram was an illustration condemning violence against women.

Steenkamp was allegedly shot dead in the early hours of the morning by star athlete Oscar Pistorius. He reportedly claims he had mistaken her for an intruder.

Wrote Steenkamp four days ago with the picture on Instagram: “I woke up in a happy safe home this morning. Not everyone did. Speak out against the rape of individuals in SA. RIP Anene Booysen #rape #crime #sayNO.”

Her account is otherwise happy and social, and showcases Steenkamp’s glamorous life as a model surrounded by friends and family.

One of Steenkamp’s pictures shows her at the beach with Oscar Pistorius, calling him one of her “favourite people”, alongside other friends and colleagues in collage taken no more than three weeks ago.

The FHM model also liked to take candid self-portraits in lingerie, at clubs, of wildlife and fancy cars, which seemed to be one of her many interests.

Steenkamp also apparently supported the “Black Friday” initiative, an anti-rape campaign following the brutal rape and murder of Bredasdorp teen Anene Booysen.

She retweeted this message: “Wear black this friday in support against #rape and woman abuse #blackfriday”.

In the days leading up to her death, Steenkamp also tweeted about her excitement about Valentine’s Day, saying: “What do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow??? #getexcited #ValentinesDay”. - City Press
