Julius Mathule smiled all the way to the bank after Cell C paid out

a refund of R2?325 owed to him.

The disgruntled Cell C subscriber contacted Hotline after

exhausting all possible channels to have unauthorised debit order transactions

His two-year subscription lapsed two years ago but Cell C continued

to make deductions from his bank account.

Mathule said: “I entered into an agreement with Cell C but that

contract lapsed in December 2008.

“Cell C made the deductions beyond this date even though I had

notified them a month earlier that I would not be renewing the contract.”

Repeated contact with Cell C’s call-centre agents failed to end

Mathule’s misery.

Mathule said he recorded the names of all Cell C consultants he

spoke to and lodged a formal complaint with the service provider, to no

Hotline addressed the matter with Karin Fourie, communications

officer at Cell C.

After an investigation, Fourie said all payments Mathule had made

reflected on their system and Cell C promised a refund.

Fourie said they were also investigating why Mathule’s case went

on for so long without being resolved.

Mathule said: “This is the battle I fought for almost a year and I

am glad Hotline won it on my behalf.”
