KwaZulu-Natal police are offering a R100 000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunmen who killed ANC councillor Wandile Mkhize in Margate on Saturday.

“A white Toyota Tazz/Conquest was seen fleeing Forest Road in Margate shortly after the shots were fired,” Colonel Vincent Mdunge said.

“Anyone who has information is requested to contact the investigating officers Warrant Officer Gideon Carstens on 039-688-2300 or Lieutenant Colonel Msizi Nyuswa on 082-411-6024.”

Mkhize, the ANC’s chief whip in the Ugu district municipality, was killed in a drive-by shooting on Saturday around 10pm.

Mkhize and a friend were walking along a road when they came under attack from gunmen in a car. Mkhize was shot dead while his companion sustained critical injuries.

Mdunge said the motive for the attack was unknown.
