Roadlink bus suspended

2010-12-28 11:01

A Roadlink bus travelling from Port Elizabeth to Pretoria has been taken off the roads after being found unroadworthy on Tuesday (December 28, 2010), Arrive Alive said.

“It was suspended in the early hours of the morning after we were alerted by the passengers that it had stopped many times since leaving Port Elizabeth,” Arrive Alive spokesman Tshepo Machaea said.

“It was three hours late.”

The bus was taken off the road in Mthatha, leaving about 30 passengers stranded.

He said Roadlink would have to find other vehicles to transport the passengers.

Other passengers had already hired alternative transport.

Machaea said the bus, which had problems with its suspension and shock absorbers, as well as “missing nuts and bolts“, was taken in for a service.

“We are very worried about the condition of the Roadlink bus... It’s a matter of concern to us. It is about people’s lives at the end of the day.”
