2012-10-11 11:27

Swimming South Africa (SSA) has selected its 25-member squad to compete at the 11th Fifa World Short Course (25m) Swimming Championships in Istanbul, Turkey from December 12-16.

However, those selected, including London Olympic gold medallists Cameron van der Burgh and Chad le Clos, will have to cough up in the region of R8 000 for the right to represent their country.

A spokesperson has confirmed to the EWN that SSA will only pay 80% of the expected R40 000 cost per swimmer, leaving the competitors to cover the remaining R8 000.
