SA woman back home from Uganda

2012-03-05 09:22

A South African woman has arrived back home after her release by Ugandan authorities.

Kathryn Fuller (29) pleaded guilty to possession of drugs. She was found guilty and fined the equivalent of R3 134, Talk Radio 702’s Eyewitness News reported.

Fuller was found unconscious in a hotel room in Kampala, Ugandan capital, a week ago. Her colleague, American TV and film producer Jeff Rice, was lying dead next to her.

Rice was known for producing several episodes of reality TV programme The Amazing Race.
They had apparently taken contaminated cocaine.

Fuller was taken to hospital and her family campaigned tirelessly for her to be released.

She is paralysed on her right side and is being treated in South Africa.

A private investigator said the magistrate had given Fuller “a very nice lecture”, telling her she had been given a second chance in life.
