SA’s top 10 movies for 2014

It was an exciting year in cinema. Sequels, animation and superheroes reigned supreme.

There were some hits and some misses but largely it seems that the viewing public did not agree with the critics.

According to the figures released these are the top 10 grossing movies at South African cinemas for the year:

10 Lucy R15.9 million

9 Guardians of the Galaxy R16.4 million

8 The Other Woman R16.6 million

7 Step Up: All In R16.9 million

6 22 Jump Street R17.7 million

5 X-Men: Days of Future Past R17.9 million

4 Rio 2 R21.4 million

3 Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro R21.9 million

2 How to Train Your Dragon 2 R23.5 million

1 Transformers: Age of Extinction R27.1 million
