Tunis – Samuel Eto’o has been selected in Cameroon’s starting line-up for the World Cup play-off against Tunisia on Sunday after reversing a decision to retire from internationals with his country two games away from the World Cup.

The striker and captain had said last month that he was quitting the national team for undisclosed personal reasons after helping Cameroon qualify for the final play-offs.

But coach Volker Finke wanted Eto’o to return and the Chelsea forward was convinced to link up with the squad again this week ahead of the crucial play-off in Tunisia after a meeting with a representative of Cameroon President Paul Biya.

The 32-year-old Eto’o is Cameroon’s all-time leading scorer and has won the Africa Cup of Nations with his country and Champions League titles at club level.
