A body found in Sasolburg could be that of a woman who went missing from her Linden home in Johannesburg at the weekend, Gauteng police said today.

“The body was found on Saturday. We think it is the same woman. Her family members are going to the state mortuary in Sasolburg to identify the body today,” said spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.

“We are investigating a case of murder.”

Bed and breakfast owner Georgie Jacklin (65) went missing from 35 Third Avenue. She was last seen by her daughter at 6pm on Friday, Dlamini said.

Jacklin’s disappearance was discovered when she failed to keep an appointment to go walking with her daughter on Sunday morning.

Police found that several small items including her handbag, laptop and hi-fi system were missing from the house.

Police had also been investigating a patch of blood found on her driveway.
