Scene City: A petrolhead duty with a difference

Local women pampered the Vorsprung durch Technik way

Fast cars, beautiful women, pampering and good food is how I spent my Tuesday, when I attended the Audi Women’s Day driving experience at the Kyalami Race Track.

Although the freak snow storm in Joburg kept coming down, nothing was going to keep us from test-driving the latest Audi models – even if we froze our butts off.

People in the entertainment industry do things differently, so the hour-long speech by the instructor was boring even though it was about safety.

The Audi brand ambassadors, radio personality Anele Mdoda and Jo-Ann Strauss of Top Billing, were there with other celebs like Egoli actress Catriona Andrew, Generations actresses Winnie Ntshaba (this woman is everywhere!); and Zenande Mfenyana, Kuli Roberts, singer Lira, V-Entertainment presenter Dineo Moeketsi and RGB’s Pearl Thusi.

It was funny to see the unintentional animal print coordination of Mdoda, Strauss and Roberts.

On the track, we unleashed our inner drifters by doing emergency braking and high-speed swerving tricks, then lapped around the track at 200km/h – with a trained instructor, of course.

It was a sinfully exciting adrenaline-pumping experience.

After the rough stuff, we all indulged in butternut soup, sushi, chicken casserole, beef pasta, mustard mash, and for dessert we enjoyed tiramisu. It was perfect for that weather.

I loved the pampering session, where we had our nails and faces done.

This was a petrolhead experience with a difference.

Happy belated Women’s Day.
