A 14-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by her school friends, in
Uitenhage, Eastern Cape.
Lieutenant-Colonel Priscilla Naidu said a group of pupils bunked
school yesterday: “They were partying at one of the pupil’s houses and at about
3pm, the eight boys escorted the girl home.
“Police then noticed that the group were behaving suspiciously in
the bushes near Willow Dam when the children saw the police vehicle, they ran in
different directions.”
Police chased after the boys, who were then caught.
The girl was found lying unconscious in the bushes.
She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Naidu said: “Two boys, aged 15 and 18, were detained and charged
for rape. The boys are in Grade 11 and 9 at same school as the victim.”
She said all the pupils were under the influence of alcohol at the
time.
