Schuster’s Mad Buddies magnetic

2012-06-16 12:36

We admire the way entertainers support each other here in Mzansi.

This fraternal championing was evident on Thursday night when a fascinating mix of South Africans packed the Ster-Kinekor theatre at The Zone in Rosebank, Jozi, for the premier of Leon Schuster’s Mad Buddies.

Actors – some who feature in the movie – were there with theatre types, film executives, some model-types and wannabe starlets hoping to be discovered.

There were dandies in paisley scarfs, washed-out socialites with overly tanned skin and short hemlines, hipsters, children, old men in branded windbreakers, sallow-complexioned young men with mullets and teenagers in bold-coloured jeans.

It felt like we were gatecrashing a big family reunion, so we parked ourselves at a table and proceeded to eat through platters of biltong, peanuts, crisps and mini chocolates.

Got a glimpse of Generations actress Winnie Modise wearing what looked like glitter faux crocodile skin boots.

It seems the harder the poor woman tries, the more she gets it wrong.

Just hire a stylist honey!

The one who always gets it right is Zuraida Jardine who came out to play with hubby Josh Lindberg.

She was gorgeous in stovepipe satin pants, a red bustier with ambitious cups and white tuxedo-style blazer with a cut-out detail.

Man of the moment Schuster was in his element; grinning, posing for pictures, shaking hands and generally basking in the limelight.

You would too if you knew your latest madcap venture was going to make you millions.
