The search for the body of slain photo journalist Anton Hammerl was still on, International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said today.
Nkoana-Mashabane, who was speaking at a press conference in Pretoria, said the government was making contact with the Libyan government to continue the search for the body.
She said it had been difficult to arrange a search for the body ever since Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown, but now that there was a proper government in place in the north African country, the search could progress.
Hammerl was covering the conflict in Libya when he was shot by militia loyal to Gaddafi on April 5 near the town of Brega.
“The search has not ended,” said Nkoana-Mashabane.
