Second hyena captured

2011-04-26 07:07

A female hyena who escaped from the Lion Park in Muldersdrift, Johannesburg, was captured and returned to her enclosure.

The Star reported she was found at a neighbouring business park today after sending a search team on a chase around the area.

Park manager Earl Smith said two hyenas bit their way out of their enclosure this morning. The male was captured shortly afterwards.

The Lion Park was in the process of upgrading the enclosure with an electric fence, Smith told the newspaper.

This would prevent them from escaping again.

“I’m sure it will be a while before she decides to venture outside again. It’s not as much as fun as it’s cracked up to be,” he said.
