‘See the real Dineo Ranaka’

2012-06-28 08:42

Former Yfm DJ and Club 808 presenter Dineo Ranaka has launched a reality show.

The starlet, who last year suffered a “nervous breakdown”, was in fine form at the Pyramid Day Spa in the Johannesburg CBD where she introduced her new show, Dineo’s Diary: Mogul in the Making yesterday.

The show will air on DStv’s Vuzu channel on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

This young entrepreneur defines the complexities of juggling the realities of being a mother, businesswoman and a member of an ordinary household. Ranaka is aiming to be a pioneer for women to take a stance in the dog-eats-dog world of business.

“I want to use myself as a case study for a lot of young entrepreneurs. You read about people like Patrice Motsepe but few know how he got to where he is. So here I am. Watch me do it. It won’t be easy, I have stumbled but I will always dust myself off as I embark on my journey to build my empire,” says Ranaka.

At the screening, media was treated to a 10-minute snippet of the pilot where Ranaka launches herself as a working mother, entrepreneur, fashion designer and overall brand.

Fans will finally find out who the “real” Dineo is.

“We had an executive producer on the show that was an entity called God. Everything you see on the show happened as is. We hardly had to put anything down on paper or script the show. It all happened as we were shooting.”

On the show, fans will see Ranaka as she launches her media company, be privy to her relationship with boyfriend Les and interaction with her mother – who plays a supporting role as hairstylist, grandmother and general PA – and siblings, among them actress Manaka Ranaka.

“People will get to see Dineo beyond the newspaper headlines and finally see who I really am,” said Ranaka.
