On the same day that Caster Semenya failed to make the team going to the Commonwealth Games, she will compete in the 800m final at the Diamond League in Oslo, Norway.

The 23-year-old is still reeling from dismal performances in the past few days that saw her finish second from last in a below-par 2:06.35 at an IAAF World Challenge meeting in Hengelo, Netherlands, on Sunday.

Semenya, who is yet to run sub-two minutes in her favourite 800m, will tonight compete at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games alongside compatriots Simon Magakwe and Khotso Mokoena, who made the SA athletics team that will go to the Commonwealth Games which starts in Glasgow, Scotland, next month.

The Oslo Diamond event will be the second for Semenya since she finished 10th in Italy a week ago. Mokoena will mark a second international appearance in the triple jump.

He finished seventh with a jump of 16.17m at the IAAF World Challenge in Morocco on Sunday.
