Seven new signings for Chiefs

2012-06-28 14:28

Kaizer Chiefs today unveiled their plans for the new season when they paraded their seven new signings.

New coach Stuart Baxter was also introduced to the media and the supporters and the former Bafana Bafana coach immediately said his mandate was to steer the club back to its former glory days.

The new players announced today are defenders Morgan Gould, Siboniso Gaxa, Kgotso Moleko, midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi and striker Sakhile Hlongwa.

Chiefs have also signed goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo from Thanda Royal Zulu and striker Kingston Nkatha from Black Leopards, but the two were not present as they were doing duty for their previous clubs.

Khuzwayo was involved in the National First Division Play-offs while Nkatha is in Sudan with Leopards on the Caf Confederations Cup assignment.

But there is still a big question mark over the signing of defender Mulomowandao Mathoho from Bloemfontein Celtic.

Mamelodi Sundowns are also in the race to sign the Bafana defender.

Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung surprised all and sundry when she unveiled Mathoho’s jersey although the player has not yet signed on the dotted line.

“We unveiling the jersey, not the player but we are confident we will get him soon. It’s still a work in progress but we have agreed personal terms and all that is missing is a few loose ends,” said Motaung.

She added that the club was still looking to beef up their squad.
