Shakes Mashaba names Bafana squad for Afcon qualifiers

Newly-appointed Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba has revealed his first squad to take on Sudan and Nigeria next month.

Mashaba has announced his 25-man squad to play in two Afcon 2015 qualifying matches in September.

Owen da Gama has been announced as Mashaba’s assistant coach with Thabo Senong as Mashaba’s second assistant coach.

The Bafana Bafana squad:


Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs), Senzo Meyiwa (Orlando Pirates) and Dumisani Msibi (SuperSport United).


Anele Ngcongca (Racing Genk), Aya Magqwaka (Ajax CT), Sibusiso Khumalo (SuperSport United), Thulani Hlatshwayo (Wits), Buhle Mkhwanazi (Wits), Eric Mathoho (Kaizer Chiefs), Rivaldo Coetzee (Ajax CT), Thabo Matlaba (Orlando Pirates) and Ramahlwe Mphahlele (Sundowns).


Themba Zwane (Sundowns), Sibusiso Vilakazi (Wits), Oupa Manyisa (Orlando Pirates), Andile Jali (KV Oostende), Dean Furman (Doncaster), Ayanda Patosi (FC Lokeren), Keagan Dolly (Ajax CT), Mandla Masango (Kaizer Chiefs) and Kamo Mokotjo (FC Twente).


Tokelo Rantie (AFC Bournemouth), Bongani Ndulula (Amazulu), Bonginkosi Ntuli (Sundowns) and David Zulu (Chippa United).


Darren Keet, Ronwen Williams, Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Bongani Zungu, Jabu Shongwe, George Lebese, Percy Tau, Nana Ntuli and Siya Ngubo.

Bafana Bafana face Group A opponents Sudan in Khartoum on September 5 and return home to face Nigeria on September 10.

Nigeria named their 23-man squad earlier this week.
