Men’s Health Menswear Collection showcase was a night to remember, especially when the scream-o-meter reached its peak, writes Lesley Mofokeng

Men’s fashion took centre?stage on Thursday night at the annual Men’s Health Menswear Collection showcase, this time hosted in the plush surrounds of Melrose Arch.

A dome was erected in the middle of the Piazza and a ramp was constructed, showcasing casual and formal looks from famous brands.

The scream-o-meter reached a pinnacle when the models showed off topless.

The crowd-pleaser seemed to be Max Mmethi, who has been on the cover of the magazine a record six times. The Pretoria model-cum-personal trainer lapped up the attention.

Maps Maponyane was another familiar face on the ramp.?The show attracted a fair share of stars including Sonia Booth, who told me she travels between Cape Town and Joburg with her husband Matthew, who was signed on by Ajax Cape Town last season.

Zuraida Jardine and husband Josh Lindberg seem to be on a social comeback trail. Looking at Jardine’s svelte body, you wouldn’t guess she’s a mother of two young kids.

I had to take a second look to make sure Chad?Saaiman had cut off his dreadlocks. He now looks fresher and 10 years younger. Veteran actor Vusi Kunene, who modelled for Palse Homme at SA Fashion Week, said he missed the ramp and wouldn’t mind going back.

He complained that he would have liked to see more from Men’s Health. Lerato Kganyago had on a naughty kitty-cat black dress, which showed off her splendid figure.

A stampede to the bar ensued after the fashion show. Although it was tough to move in the scramble, it was a good night for fashionistas.
