Fashionistas and fans of the internationally recognised clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger are in for a treat, as they can now shop from the brand’s very own store in South Africa.

Tommy Hilfiger launched in Cape Town on Thursday evening and, despite the unsettling winter weather, everyone from the A-list social circles in The Mother City was there.

While the event drew sport stars, actors, models, socialites and TV personalities, I was bewildered as to how so many guests could fit into the store at the same time.

Expresso host and 5FM celebrity reporter Jen Su looked on point in her short navy and pink dress. She flew from Joburg to Cape Town specifically to attend the event. Don’t you just want her job?

Also there was Jen’s BFF, Liezel van der Westhuizen, who stood out in navy shorts and a cream leather jacket. I loved her gold, Grecian-style headband.

Couple Tanya van Graan and Kasper Kristoffersen couldn’t stop sharing about their upcoming wedding in October, while cricketer Herschelle Gibbs and his charming new lady, Sherrin Davie, were also there.

The guest list included Top Billing’s Janez Vermeiren, rugby player Percy Montgomery, actress Vanessa Haywood and TV and radio personality Tracey Lange, who is the Hilfiger brand ambassador.

Cindy Nell-Roberts is looking ravishing after having given birth recently. She and her hubby, Clive, seemed thrilled to be back on the social scene and not changing baby nappies.

Romance is clearly in the air this season as surfer and model Roxy Louw is smitten with Anton Rupert Jr, son of businessman Johann Rupert. The couple have just returned from Miami and the Bahamas. Nice one, honey!

I loved the choice of chocolate desserts on offer, while guests also feasted on raspberry tarts, beef carpaccio, delicious mini-hamburgers as well as vegetarian canapés – in between purchasing clothing items, of course.
