Social – Patrollie hits funny bone

2013-05-05 10:00

Funnymen Kagiso Lediga, David Kau, Joey Rasdien, Chris Forrest, Craig Urbani and David Kibuuka premiered their new film, Blitz Patrollie, at The Alexander Theatre in Braamfontein on Wednesday night.

It was refreshing to see the rainbow nation so widely represented. It felt as if we were on the set of 7de Laan.

It just goes to show that funny business is everyone’s business.

The event was sponsored by Remy Martin, so that was the drink of choice for guests trying to keep warm while they waited for the men of the moment to rock up, which they duly did with sirens blazing in a Metro police minibus.

Lediga was the crowd favourite, taking time to greet and shake hands with mere mortals.

The red carpet was bombarded with the Who’s Who of Egoliwood, with A-listers such as Tumisho Masha in a risqué purple suit, the usually elusive Tony Kgoroge sans wife Sthandiwe, Zwai and Melanie Bala firmly holding on to each other and Kid Sithole.

Lazola Gola and Robby Collins stole some of the thunder as they camped it up for the photographers, joyfully and animatedly posing as the cameras flashed.

The wait before the movie was a tad too long and the space a bit crowded, with the noise levels rising as people’s chatter competed with the background music.

It was a relief to finally walk through the doors at about 8.30pm with popcorn in hand.
