Social – Vuzu's 'Yo Baddest Self' fest

2013-05-12 14:00

You know it’s going to be a celeb fest when a party is hosted by youth channel Vuzu. And when the theme is “Yo Baddest Self”, it is a given that it’s going to go down.

The VIP Room at the Michelangelo Towers was where the action took place for the 10?Over?10 wrap party. Platters of food and insanely strong Grey Goose drinks greeted guests at the door, making it clear that the channel was serious about partying.

Everybody who is, was or hopes to be someone in Egoliwood came out to play. We spotted Afro-soul’s one-hit wonderboy MXO, who fed us the tired

“I’m-on-a-comeback-trail” line. Sure, brother, whatever you say.

Actor Phila Madlingozi, he of Intersexions fame, was also there in his favourite patchwork jeans. A quiet word of advice to Madlingozi: celebrities do not recycle?.?.?.?we should never know your wardrobe off by heart.

The newly demure Somizi Mhlongo is starting to wear thin now. We miss the crazy guy who used to “make the circle bigger” with Khanyi Mbau.

Reality TV was sadly represented by the Flychix, who were huddled together and acted nothing like the crazy attention-seekers they are on their show.

Black Les, Dineo Ranaka’s boyfriend, tried his best to step away from his famous girlfriend’s shadow by attending without her. But it didn’t work out so well.

The dance floor was where it all went down. Even the likes of fashion designer David Tlale and Generations actress Zenande Mfenyana were shaking their groove thang. The sounds of DJ Switch & The Drummer even had new TV presenter Bujy Bikwa breaking it down and dripping dance swag for days.

Talk about letting your hair down, Nthato Mashishi danced the night away with ballet dancer Thoriso Magongwa. Can someone pour water on that hair already, curls are back.

We raised a bit of an eyebrow when Stoan Seate mentioned that he is dressed by C-Squared. We know, dude, they’ve been sponsoring you for years. Chill.

Sophie Ndaba joined a bit late but had no trouble catching up.
