Award-winning designer Katherine-Mary Pichulik’s latest collection, called Pietra Terra (meaning rocky ground in Italian), went on sale this week.

Pichulik returns with an autumn/winter range inspired by Italy and an Italian perfumery, Santa Maria Novella, with whom she collaborated. The collection is a burst of rich yellow, burnt orange, royal blue, deep red and gold.

The chunky Pichulik ropes are paired with precious and semiprecious stones like jade, serpentine, black lace dream agate and blue dream agate for another decadent collection from the popular jewellery line.

Pichulik says: “I have always dreamt of Italy. As a girl, Federico Fellini, Michelangelo Antonioni and Bernardo Bertolucci created the women I longed to be. Italy became an imagined land for me, created from images in their films, in art books and magazines.”

She says given her passion for all things Italian, the collaboration with Santa Maria Novella was a natural fit.

“The perfumery has been making artisanal perfumes in Florence for centuries, and the workmanship and luxury represented by each Santa Maria Novella product reflect the Pichulik ethos.” – Gugulethu Mhlungu
