‘Stalker’ slays former City Press journalist

FORMER City Press journalist Shadi Rapitso (29) was stabbed to

death in Johannesburg this morning by an alleged stalker.

According to her friend Tankiso Komane, who was at the scene soon

after the incident in Montgomery Park near Melville, Rapitso was stabbed in the

neck by a neighbour who had been obsessed with her.

Rapitso was killed after she opened the door for the suspect who

allegedly forcefully carried her to his house and locked it.

Rapitso died instantly.

Komane said Rapitso was preparing herself to go to work when the

incident occurred.

“I am so shocked, I last spoke to Shadi yesterday, she was

cheerful,” said Komane.

At this stage, Rapitso’s family was too sad to comment.

Gauteng police spokesperson Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini

confirmed the incident.

He said the suspect was fighting for his life in hospital with a

knife still in his chest.

Dlamini could not tell whether the suspect tried to commit suicide

or not.

“At this stage we are still investigating whether he stabbed

himself or someone did,” he said.
