Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr would like to settle a case of reckless or negligent driving against him out of court.

Hofmeyr, who appeared in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrates’ Court this morning, told SABC news he was considering three legal options to settle out of court.

He was arrested in Bronkhorstspruit on the night of December 19 for speeding, and released on R500 bail.

Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalo said at the time that Hofmeyr would also face a charge of exceeding the speed limit after he was caught driving at 169km/h in an 80km/h zone.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page a day after his arrest, Hofmeyr said it was “irresponsible and dangerous” to speed.

Today, Hofmeyr told reporters at the court that he had not noticed the speed at which he was travelling. His case was postponed to January 23. publishes all comments posted on articles provided that they adhere to our Comments Policy.
