Student held after UJ kidnap

2013-08-02 15:34

Police confirmed that a University of Johannesburg student was arrested after a 23-year-old woman was kidnapped from the Kingsway campus, Beeld reported.

The woman’s VW Polo car was traced to the suspect’s house, Eyewitness News reported.

The woman student was held hostage for more than an hour while the suspect drew cash from all her bank accounts.

The woman said she was threatened with a gun yesterday and bundled into the boot of her car

just a few hundred metres from the campus security services.

The man had a blue scarf folded across his face, making him unrecognisable to the woman.

“He tied my hands and took everything out of the boot and put me in it.”

She was left in Eldorado Park where she opened a case at the local police station.

She was set to meet with university authorities.
