Big screen on the small screen

SABC1, Sunday, 8.30pm

We are excited about the Mayibuye Film Festival, in which SABC1 screens films that were banned in the 1980s. Tonight, catch the 1988 drama starring Hector Mathanda and Popo Gumede about a young game ranger whose farm is attacked by looters and kidnappers.

SABC1, Sunday, 9.50pm

Also part of Mayibuye fest. In this film, a young boy and his sister, raised by their cruel and vicious stepmother, only have each other for comfort. Sizwe Dlamini and Gugu Mhlanga star.

M-Net, Sunday, 8.05pm

A teenager is arrested for drug possession and is facing a lifetime in jail. His estranged father (Dwayne Johnson) goes undercover with the drug enforcement agency to catch a bigger fish and so get his son freed. A bit silly and full of improbability, Snitch is a mediocre crime thriller that will kill two hours if you have them spare.
