Writer Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) does it again with this blow-by-blow account of the 10-year search for Osama bin Laden. Jessica Chastain leads a superb cast directed by Kathryn Bigelow. It’s gruelling and compelling.

Johnny English

SABC2, Monday, 9.30pm

Those who can’t resist Mr Bean will happily sit and watch this for 90 minutes. For those of you who think Mr Bean should have run himself over with his own Mini years ago, avoid this blundering effort.

An honest, hard-working family man is forced to compromise his values and ­integrity when a delayed application for an RDP house forces him to get into the ring and fight.

Man on a Ledge

Mzansi Magic, Saturday, 8.30pm

Sam Worthington, the star of Avatar, is a recently released convict who used to be a cop. He’s standing on the ledge of a New York hotel threatening to jump and Elizabeth Banks is the cop who must try negotiate him down. Watchable but rather forgettable.
