The “South African taxpayer” has put the president’s Nkandla homestead up for sale on classifieds site Gumtree.co.za – for a cool R246 million.

The sale price is the same amount Public Protector Thuli Madonsela estimated to have been spent on upgrades to the president’s home, in her Nkandla report.

The features listed for the “homestead with everything you can dream of” include a swimming pool (R2.8 million), amfitheatre (R68 million) and visitor’s centre (R6.7 million) – some of the non-security features constructed at Zuma’s homestead at taxpayers’ expense.

Madonsela had found the president should pay back a reasonable percentage of the money spent on non-security features.

The adverts says the homestead is being sold “by the owners, all South African taxpayers”.
