Teacher in court for sexually assaulting pupil

2012-03-09 16:30

A teacher appeared in the King William’s Town Magistrates Court today for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old pupil who had been travelling in his car yesterday.

According to police, a case of sexual assault was opened at the local police station after the girl told her class teacher that the 34-year-old male had touched her private parts.

Captain Ernest Sigobe said the case was postponed until March 26 when a formal bail application will be heard.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Celiwe Binta condemned the assault, urging the community to assist the police in fighting crime against women and children.
