Teacher in trouble after kids fight: video

2014-11-06 11:41

The Gauteng department of education has promised to take action against a teacher who failed to restrain two boys fighting in his class.

A student captured the fight on video with a cellphone. Instead of stopping the boys the teacher, Ezekiel Ramothlola, can be heard saying “banna, fetsang”, meaning, “guys please finish”.

The incident happened at Fons Luminis High School in Diepkloof, Soweto.

Phumla Sekhonyane, the department’s spokesperson said appropriate action would be taken against Ramothlola and the boys.

“We are not aware of the incident. We strongly condemn the conduct of both the learners and the educator who can be seen watching the learners fighting without restraining them. We will investigate and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to discipline all involved,” Sekhonyane said.

Ramothlola could not be reached for comment. The school’s principal, Livhuwani Sundani, refused to comment.
