It’s been a rocky year for some of Mzansi’s star couples.

Generations actress Sophie Ndaba and her husband, Keith Harrington, separated this year, scotching rumours that they were rebuilding their union.

The pair, who walked down the aisle last year, broke up after the talented actress accused the man of the cloth of physical abuse.

It was the disintegration of former minister of human settlements Tokyo Sexwale and his wife’s union that sent shockwaves through political circles.

Judy Sexwale reportedly accused the ANC heavyweight of physical and emotional abuse – claims which he has denied.

End Game star Hlomla Dandala and his wife, Candy Litchfield, also called it quits this year.

They separated years ago amid claims of extramarital affairs but have now split up for good.

Generations actress Winnie Modise made sure the gossipmongers never ran out of something to skinner about when she ditched her husband, Thabo Modise, reportedly because he was unable to pay the bills.

The tabloid ink had hardly dried when the media broke the story of the break-up of legal eagle Leslie Sedibe and his wife, Sonia.

It was reported Sonia had called it quits because Leslie was a control freak and suffered from an insecurity complex.

Also this year, kwaito star Brickz’s wife, Nqobile, left him after he allegedly raped a teenager.

But it was jazz maestro Bra Hugh Masekela who took the cake when he divorced his Ghanaian wife, Elinam, at the age of 75.

This after Elinam complained that she was always at home in the company of her own shadow because the muso spent most of his time trotting around the globe.
