The people who hold the power: Sandlana Smit

2012-11-10 11:28

Smit (57) is a member of the branch executive committee of Mangaung’s Branch 21.

“I became a member of the ANC in 1994 when it was still unusual for a white man to be a member. I lost my family and friends,” he says.

It didn’t matter to Smit. He believed then, and believes now, the ANC is the future for white South Africans. He is a “100%” Ace Magashule supporter.

“I will take a bullet for (Magashule). He works very hard and he thinks of the little man. I am a little man.”

He’s also backing President Jacob Zuma for re-election.

Top of his agenda for Mangaung is the issue of child grants, which he hopes will be properly debated so that fewer young girls become pregnant.
