The realist, dreamer and optimist take a wild ride

Get Busy Living. That’s the tagline to a new local reality show fronted by a trio of brash, bold and popular guys.

Lungile Radu (AKA Lungsta), Siya Ngwekazi (AKA Scoop) and Thomas Gumede are three TV personalities with different approaches to life.

Many might describe Radu as the realist, while the talkative Ngwekazi is the dreamer and comedian Gumede brings a sense of enthusiasm.

They have appeared in various TV shows and enjoyed the celebrity lifestyle as presenters on Vuzu and Channel O. And their popularity ensured Forever Young became a trending topic on Twitter and Facebook when it aired last Friday.

Radu describes the show, which the three produced, as “a way of life”.

“It’s a way of expressing our approach to life and living it to its fullest, embracing all the elements that it’s made of – from work to family, partying and basically just living. That’s why we thought this would be the perfect name for our show.”

“This is not just a show, it’s our lives,” adds Gumede.

Beyond the partying and the gratuitous dramatics – courtesy of Ngwekazi most often than not – there’s a certain endearing aspect of the trio’s relationship. It’s evident that apart from being friends, they encourage each other to realise their career goals.

“We found ourselves spending a lot of time together at work and that’s when we realised after a couple of casual chats that we each have big dreams for ourselves,” says Gumede.

“Lungsta and I now have a production company and going into business with him has made the friendship even better and more valuable. We motivate each other because in this competitive industry, you need family that’s going to look out for you,” says Ngwekazi.

Ngwekazi says the reason for the reality show is for Mzansi to see them as more than just the guys on TV.

“People are going to see the real Lungile, not just the TV presenter and actor. I’d like to think there is a difference (between the personas).

The show is about capturing those moments in life we all go through like our hustles, our failures, our everyday interaction with friends and family and I guess at the same time inspire those watching,” says Radu.

“This is career elevation. The industry needs a new look and I think we’re here to give them that.”

The career elevation for Ngwekazi is a clothing range.

“I plan to launch a clothing range and you’ll see in one of the episodes, we travel to South Korea to pick out fabrics for the stuff I’m going to design,” says the fashionista.

As Radu puts it, “these fellas are crazy! Working with Scoop and Thomas has been a roller coaster ride.”
And we can’t wait to come along for that ride.
