Mention LG, and I think home appliances. When it comes to smartphones, the LG brand is the last thing on my mind.

But all that changed with the arrival of the new LG G3.

This elegant smartphone, operating on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat system, has some special features that put it in a league of its own.

For starters, forget HD. This phone boasts Quad HD – that’s HD resolution times four.

It comes with 32GB built-in memory, but with a microSD slot, you have the option to push it up to 128GB.

The camera has laser autofocus and “optical image stabiliser plus” for sharper images in a fraction of the time – an unprecedented combination for smartphones.

And with its 2.1MP front camera, the G3 delivers decent selfies.

It comes in metallic black, silk white and shine gold.

It took a year for a team of four whiz kids to design this phone.

It’s one of the most anticipated releases of the year and is available in South Africa this month.
