2010-11-16 07:20

A man shot and killed his girlfriend and a bystander before killing himself at a Soshanguve school.

Pretoria police spokesperson Lolo Mangena said the shooting took place at 8.30am when Itumeleng Dlamini arrived at his girlfriend’s workplace and shot her repeatedly.

He said 35-year-old Simon Mthimunye, a bystander who had just dropped off his orphaned nephew and niece at Kondelelani Junior Secondary School was there to see a social worker when he was killed by a stray bullet.

Dlamini (35) shot his 26-year-old girlfriend, Rachel Moikabi, six times before he turned the gun on himself, Mangena said.

He said Moikabi was a social worker and an employee of the Gauteng North Mental Health Care Centre.

The area of the school where she was working, Block F, was used by social workers for counselling.

Mangena said two murder dockets and one suicide docket was opened following the incident.
