Twitter tributes pour in for MaSisulu

Personal recollections to messages of condolence were sent out on social network sites today in tribute to struggle stalwart Albertina Sisulu.

In remembrance of his late grandmother, Albertina Sisulu, Zwelakhe Sisulu’s 21-year-old son, Ziyeka Sisulu, posted a reply on his Twitter account about the fond memories he shared with his grandmother saying: “My #gogo always asked me to change the channel so she could watch ‘Aubrey’. I later learnt that she wanted to watch Oprah.”

Ziyeka is a staunch supporter of the ruling ANC and son to Zwelakhe and Zodwa Sisulu.

The following are condolences to the Sisulu family on Twitter.

Shaka Sisulu tweeted: “We are having a short prayer at gogo’s Linden home. And then we shall close the house and comms until tomorrow. God Bless u all. Goodnight.”

President Jacob Zuma tweeted: “Mama #Sisulu was one of the foremost mothers of the nation and the last of the colossuses of the struggle for the liberation of South Africa. While we mourn her loss, we must thank her most profoundly for the selfless service to all S.Africans.”

Subesh Pillay tweeted: “ANC #Tshwane Caucus rises in a moment of Silence to Honour Mama #Albertina #Sisulu. Hamba Kahle MaSisulu - May You Rest in eternal Peace!”

Mandy Wiener tweeted: “#Sisulu Dali Tambo: I have a vision of my mother and Lilian Ngoyi meeting MaSisulu at the Pearly Gates and leading her to Walter.”

Brad Maasdorp said: “Sad to think we are saying goodbye to political icons in mama #Sisulu and left with the mockery of Zille and the likes.”

Katrina Arends Mseme quoted Albertina Sisulu saying: “Women are the people who are going to relieve us from all this oppression and depression.”

1976SA said: “All flags MUST be hoist halfmast in remembrance of a stalwart #RIP mama, freedomfighter #Albertina #Sisulu.”

Benita Levin tweeted: “Moving tributes continue to pour in for Albertina #Sisulu... “a pillar of strength”... a “mother to all”.

Illke B. Philander said: “the calibre of this family: The #Sisulu family has set up a table with food and drinks for journalists.”
