Two die in Mpumalanga head-on collision

2011-12-28 09:58

Two people died in a head-on collision today between a car and a truck on the N4 toll road at Machadodorp in Mpumalanga, the province’s transport department said.

“We think the driver of the car was overtaking another vehicle when he lost control and collided with the truck,” spokesperson Joseph Mabuza said.

“There were only two people in the car and they both died. The truck driver was not injured.”

More than 100 people have been killed on Mpumalanga’s roads since the beginning of the festive season.

“We are going into another long weekend and expect many people to use our roads. The weather conditions are poor and people should avoid speeding and should rest.”
