Two men arrested for raping minors

Two men were arrested in connection with two different cases of rape in Mankweng, Limpopo police have said.

Constable Moses Molepo said a 20-year-old shop owner was arrested yesterday.

“The man is accused of raping two sisters, aged 8 and 12.”


said the girls went to the man’s shop to buy sweets last month. He

allegedly locked them inside the shop before taking turns to rape them.

He said the man faces two charges of rape and was expected to appear in the Mankweng Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, another man was also arrested yesterday for allegedly raping his wife’s younger sister.

“The wife went to a funeral when her husband (42), took advantage of her 16-year-old sister at home,” said Molepo.

The man was also expected to appear in the Mankweng Magistrates Court tomorrow, where he faces a charge of rape.

Gilbert Baloyi (53) raped the girl in March 2010 in Ga-Mothiba, near Mankweng, said Constable Moses Molepo.

Baloyi was convicted and sentenced yesterday.

Molepo said the man knocked on the door of the family home where the girl was home alone and asked for water.

“The man overpowered the girl before raping her repeatedly.”
