Union relays new Transnet offer

The United Transport and Allied Trade Union will take a new offer

from Transnet to its members.

Chris de Vos, the general secretary of the union, said: “We’ve got

a Transnet agreement. We need a mandate for it and we may sign it tomorrow at

4pm. There’s an excellent chance that guys will return to work on Friday.”

De Vos would not discuss the contents of the new agreement.

“There are improvements made, not what we wanted, but we firmly

believe that it should be a great possibility of settlement,” said De Vos.

The United Transport and Allied Trade Union and the South African

Transport and Allied Workers’ Union have been on strike since last week.
