Vladimir Vermezovic resigns

2014-12-03 16:56

Orlando Pirates coach Vladimir Vermezovic has resigned from the club.

Pirates posted on its website that the Serbian-born coach submitted his resignation from the club today.

Club chairperson Irvin Khoza said: “We have accepted VV’s resignation. The stability of the team is always a pressing priority.”

“Eric Tinkler will assume the role of caretaker coach until the end of the 2014/2015 season.”

Khoza said he would sit down with Vermezovic in an exit interview “to hear him out”.

“I wished he’d stay longer and had more success at Orlando Pirates,” Khoza added.

This follows the team’s 2-1 defeat to Maritzburg United last night.

Pirates supporters pelted Vermezovic with objects at FNB Stadium in Joburg and called for his dismissal.
