Watch – Ard can’t sing at all, says Ras

Ras Dumisani, who famously bungled the national anthem at a 2009 Springbok rugby Test, has slammed Ard Matthews for doing the same.

“He can’t sing at all. In fact, I feel sorry for him,” he told the Cape Argus.

“He looks like he can’t concentrate on singing and playing the guitar at the same time – he should have got someone to accompany him,” said Dumisani.

Dumisani was asked to perform the anthem in France in 2009, but infuriated South Africans by singing off-key and evidently not knowing all the words.

Ard Matthews suffered a similar fate on Tuesday on national television, when he was asked to perform the anthem at the announcement of the Springbok World Cup team.

Pressed for a response to Dumisani’s comments, Matthews reportedly replied: “I’m not here to talk about anyone else’s performance … all I can say is I’m sorry.”
