Watch – Flicker

2011-07-08 15:07

From the award-winning performer and choreographer, Athena Mazarakis, comes her new production, Flicker, at the National Arts Festival.

It is a visually stunning performance that combines physical theatre with digital art to produce a unique exploration of human relationships and connections.

The stage is dominated by two characters who explore their connection and disconnection through dance and communication. Added to this is the virtual presence of Andrew Buckland, who appears as a projected video clip. The play explores the losses and disappearances that occur in human interactions on an everyday basis.

There are “flickers” of narrative, flickers of dance performances and flickers on the video projection – all meant to emphasise those brief moments of loss. The result is a visually and intellectually stimulating production.
